An Interest group known as Ogoni Relief Network has advised against politicization of the ongoing environmental cleanup exercise in Ogoni-land as recommended by the UNEP report.
President of the group, Daniel Kanee gave the advice in an interview shortly after their courtesy visit to the palace of the President Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers of Ogoni, King Godwin Gininwa to chat with him on the need why the Federal Government should engage services of professional companies such as Power plus Cleaning solutions to execute the clean up exercise.
Mr. Kanee said that King Godwin Gininwa being among the pillars and the only Ogoni person who handed over the UNEP report documents to President Buhari for immediate implementation, the group expects that the King will also assist them to notify the Federal Government about the company because Power plus Cleaning solutions has proven to be credible and professional based on their previous works at the Gulf of Mexico, Japan, Turkey and other countries.
The President of the group expressed fear that failure to hire professional Company to execute the OGONI UNEP report may plunge the Ogonis to more hardship.
He said that issues of the environment are beyond political party affiliation since they affect everyone.
He said because of the negative impact of the environmental challenges on the communities, any attempt to politicize the process will affect the eventual outcome.
He noted that they will also consult all the Stakeholders in Ogoni Land to enlighten them why the Company should be adopted.
Meanwhile, other members of the group such as Elder Edward Nwikoma who is the Adviser, Comrade Fineboy Kuku-Assistant Secretary, Lucky Adookon- PRO, Joy Mmeabe- Welfare Coordinator, Chief Saro Mansion- Treasurer , Sorle Numda- Financial Secretary and others all threw their weight behind the Power plus Cleaning solutions Company to carry out the clean up exercise.
Our Correspondent reports that the Group handed over a document that contains their facts and findings about the Company to President Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers of Ogoni, King Godwin Gininwa to study and see reason with them.
